Otsuka Europe

A Message from Otsuka Europe's CEO & President In today’s marketplace, with many different companies competing to deliver advances in the field of healthcare, we are often asked what makes Otsuka special and different from the other companies. First and foremost, Otsuka does not want to follow in the footsteps of traditional pharmaceutical companies. Our goal is to develop unique, innovative, first-in-class products, focusing on unmet medical needs and the needs of our customers. We aim to be a company that always asks the question ‘will this product make the world a better place?’ and a company that brings truly innovative solutions to patients worldwide. It is the passion, drive and unconventional thinking of our people that makes things happen and this is something that we don’t underestimate at Otsuka. Jissho-Shugi, which means ‘earning responsibility by consistently delivering results’, is a concept that employees are encouraged to apply to their everyday working life. We want our employees to be empowered and motivated to carry out their roles as part of a global family.  Despite our successful listing on the Tokyo stock exchange in 2010, we have still managed to preserve our values of ‘creativity’, ‘curiosity’ and ‘perseverance’ which form the basis or our culture and our core strength. All these elements combine to help us achieve our goal of being: Otsuka-people creating new products for better health worldwide.

Yours faithfully, Ole Vahlgren CEO & President - Otsuka Europe 6 September 2012
