Incidence
Studies in the United Kingdom reported that Intermittent Claudication affects around 4.5% of men and women aged 55 to 74. It is about twice as common among men as women.
The condition is likely to become more common as more people live to older ages.
Intermittent Claudication impacts people in many ways, from the pain of the condition to loss of mobility, which affects household tasks and social activities as well as increasing pressure on family members.
Apart from the impact on patients, Intermittent Claudication incurs economic costs for health services. Patients may require more hospital visits, surgery, and, in many cases, follow-up care.
