At Otsuka Nordic, we work with innovative pharmaceutical products and medical devices, particularly in our core areas of CNS, endocrinology, nephrology and oncology. Otsuka is committed to develop continuously and be a leader in these specialist areas.

The company has its roots in Japan, and the company name means "significant milestone" in Japanese. Otsuka researches, develops, manufactures and markets innovative original products, focusing on drugs to treat diseases, and nutritional products for everyday health. In the pharmaceutical area, Otsuka is a leader in mental health, and also has research programs directed against several diseases in need of better treatment, including tuberculosis, which is a significant threat to public health globally. At Otsuka, we work with a spirit of creativity, innovation and humanity. It is important for us to give personal service and put patients at the centre of what we do.

Otsuka was founded in Japan in 1921 and began operations in Europe in 1979. The Nordic affiliate was founded in Stockholm in 2001 and has operations in four Nordic countries: Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Otsuka Nordics is part of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Otsuka Holdings Co., Ltd., Otsuka Group's holding company.
